Stage 1. Design concept
This project was designed in 2023, when consumer-level AR display and interaction technologies were still in their early stages of maturity.
Several key issues existed at the time:
The depth of focus of the human eye did not align with the perceived distance of virtual images, causing visual fatigue during prolonged use.
Waveguide technology suffered from chromatic dispersion and uneven brightness.
In outdoor environments, maintaining image visibility required excessively high screen brightness, resulting in increased power consumption.
This project aims to explore how AR products could be experienced without pursuing crystal-clear virtual imagery—allowing users’ vision to remain naturally unfocused on digital overlays—while asking: what kinds of experiences or interactions can only be realized through AR glasses?
本项目设计时间为2023年,彼时的消费级AR显示以及交互方案还不够成熟。存在以下问题:
1.人眼聚焦深度与虚拟图像距离不匹配,长时间使用会导致疲劳。
2.光波导技术存在色散亮度不均问题。
3.在户外场景下如果要清晰看到图像等信息会导致屏幕亮度过大,功耗过高等问题。
本项目意在探究如何在不追求清晰的AR图像显示,让用户佩戴视觉不会长时间聚焦在虚拟图像上的情况下,AR产品的使用场景,以及有些什么是只有AR这种产品形态才能做的?

Stage 2. Interaction Design
Utilising camera-based gesture capture and facial expression electromyography capture for control, this fulfils the entertainment and interactive requirements for outdoor scenarios.
使用摄像头手势捕捉,以及面部表情肌电捕捉来进行操控,满足户外哥场景下的娱乐功能和交互需求。

Stage 3. Interaction testing
1.The camera is positioned directly above the user's eye to minimise perspective distortion. Employing a rectangular framing gesture enables custom composition and framing for shooting, even when the AR display lacks visual feedback.
1.摄像头布局在人眼正上方,降低视角误差,使用方框手势进行拍摄可以在ar屏幕没有图像反馈的情况下,也能完成自定义构图取景拍摄。


2. By relying on non-screen focal visual cues, blurred gradient colour blocks can provide basic directional information while enhancing the immersive experience for audio-visual entertainment on actual screens.
2.依靠非屏幕聚焦视觉反馈,模糊的渐变色块可以提供简单的方向信息,以及为真实屏幕的影音娱乐创造更好的沉浸式体验。


Stage 3. Design prototype
Rapidly validate ergonomics using AI design workflows for iterative product design.
