Stage 1. Background research
people have become increasingly conscious of hygiene. Yet in outdoor settings, bacteria on skin or odor from sweat-soaked garments remain difficult to clean effectively. Traditional washing methods consume large amounts of water, require drying time, and are impractical for on-the-go use — highlighting the need for a portable, low-water hygiene solution.
后疫情时代,人们对个人卫生与清洁的关注显著提升。然而在户外场景中,皮肤表面的细菌感染或衣物因汗液产生的异味,往往难以被有效清除。这些问题不仅影响健康,也降低了出行体验。传统的清洁方式耗水量大、耗时长,并需晾干,不适用于户外或便携使用场景。


Stage 2. Prototype development
We have deconstructed the principles of the plasma generator and devised a simplified structural design, optimising each module based on fluid simulation results.
我们拆解了等离子发生器的原理并进行简化结构设计,根据流体模拟的结果分模块进行优化结构。



Stage 3. Design development
We aim to ensure users experience the product's convenience, reliability, and intuitive user logic.Users can directly observe the intensity level of the plasma cleaning process through the rear viewing window of the tool.
我们希望能够让用户感受到产品的便捷,可靠,以及符合直觉的使用逻辑,用户可以直接通过工具后侧视窗看到等离子清洁的强度档位。




Stage 4. Testing
Good design hinges on solving practical problems. During the iterative process, we collaborated with Imperial College London's biological bacteria laboratory to conduct 30-second disinfection efficacy tests and refine the coverage area and cleaning performance of different spray nozzles.
好设计离不开解决实际问题,在迭代过程中我们与帝国理工的生物细菌实验室合作,进行30s消毒结果实验和不同喷头的覆盖面积和清洁效果的迭代。





Reflections
In this project, I endeavoured to apply my understanding of UX design principles to industrial design. This involved simplifying user interaction to enhance intuitiveness, such as allowing the plasma light brightness in the rear side window to directly indicate the intensity of the cleaning cycle. I shall continue to apply this philosophy to future projects.
在这个项目中我尝试将我理解的ux设计移植到工业设计中。如何简化用户的使用,让其更加符合直觉,比如产品侧后视窗的等离子风亮度可直接表示清洁的档位强度。我将继续将这种理念延续到之后的项目中。
